Intelligentsia's Direct Trade program is based on a really simple premise. Creating great coffees is hard work, the farmers we work with create great coffees, and we pay them more for the fruits of their labor. Whether you choose to display a humorous or straight-forward flyer, the goal is to help your customers understand the coffees that you are selling and these flyers serve to do just that.
Download the PDF, send it to your printer, and you are off to the races. Take a magnet and attach one to your espresso machine. Tape another to your front window. Tack one to that bulletin board in the back. Doesn’t matter where you put the flyers... just as long as they are up and your customers can see them.
All Coffee Roasters Visit Farmers
Yeah, right. Intelligentsia Coffee visits the farms of every Direct Trade offering a minimum of 1 time per year, and in most cases, 3 times – once pre–harvest, once during harvest, & once more after harvest. Most coffee roasters never visit the farms that grow their coffees, and therefore have little way of influencing the quality of the coffee or guaranteeing the price the farmer is paid. Directly Paid. Intelligentsia Direct Trade is a purchasing model based on coffee quality. A lot of work goes into growing, harvesting, and preparing the best coffees in the world. We recognize this effort and are willing to pay for it, a minimum of 25% above Fair Trade price. For a few extra pennies, you (the customer) are doing your part by placing responsible consumer decisions ahead of cheap, low–quality... You get the idea.
